Fattoria Uccelliera

FATTORIA UCCELLIERA – TUSCANY – ITALY

The name of the farm derives from the cadastral toponym of one of the hills that make it up, which bears the name Uccelliera since, in medieval times, a bird was planted on it. In the immediate vicinity there was a presence of birds of all kinds in the various periods of migration: turtledoves, bee-eaters, shrike, thrushes, blackbirds, cesene, starlings, finches, buntings and sparrows. Many of these varieties are still breeding today.

The Fattoria Uccelliera Farm is located between the municipalities of Fauglia and Lorenzana, in the province of Pisa. The company extends over a hilly area of very varied composition, mainly tuff and siliceous, with clayey areas of limited extension, at an altitude between 80 and 200 meters above sea level, with very cool valley bottoms and hills interspersed with natural woods.
