Production area: north-eastern part of the Province of Potenza delimited by the production disciplinary which includes the territory of n. 15 Municipalities, especially in the Municipality of Venosa Città di Orazio.
Age of the vines: 18/25 years.
Production per hectare: 8 t.
Altitude of the vineyards: 400/450 meters above sea level
Harvest period: from the second ten days of September and the first ten days of October.
Vinification: in small fermenters and skin maceration at a controlled temperature from 23 ° to 26 ° C, for about 7 days, completion of the alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Aging: in French barriques for about 6 months.
Serving temperature: 16°-18° C.
Tasting notes:
Clear, intense ruby red color, almost impenetrable, luminous and consistent.
The nose is a scent of perfume. Fruity hints of yellow peach and plum, with toasted sweet tobacco, spacings of pepper and cinnamon.
The sip is of great impact. Tannin is perfectly smooth, important, but not intrusive. Intense and very persistent with a smoky aftertaste and ripe fruit. Mineral note of slate in the finish.
It is recommended in combination with strascicati with hare ragù.
