WOW Porto is a museum dedicated to wine in the Portuguese city of the same name, a symbol of quality wine production. A museum that, born in 2020, pays homage to the region by celebrating Portuguese traditions on the subject.
WOW is a whole neighborhood full of things to do, explore and learn. Seven museum experiences, nine restaurants, shops, a temporary exhibition space, an event space and a wine school.
Within WOW, “The Wine Experience” aims to demystify wine, on a journey that explains how it is produced and how the environment, climate and grape variety are crucial for the final result. One, several museums that tell the ancient and rich winemaking history of Portugal.
An avant-garde structure that could only be born in Porto, home of the famous Port wine and which, with five different wine regions just an hour’s drive away, is confirmed as the capital of Portuguese wine.

When was the Museum born and what are the goals achieved to date?
World of Wine (WOW), a new cultural and tourist hub in Porto, consists of seven interactive museum experiences and 12 restaurants, bars, and cafes created from the restoration of old port wine cellars. It also includes a wine school, a variety of shops, an exhibition space as well as an event space. Situated on the south bank of the Douro River, WOW boasts an impressive view of the Dom Luís I Bridge.
WOW aims to bring the history, magic, and emotions behind Portuguese wine, the drinking ritual, and the cork industry while also showcasing other facets of the Portuguese culture including the textiles and fashion industry.
Opened in August 2020, WOW includes seven museum experiences: The Wine Experience, Planet Cork, Porto Region Across the Ages, The Bridge Collection, Pink Palace and Porto Fashion & Fabric Museum, The Chocolate Story, as well as the Wine School, bars, restaurants and shops.
How is the Museum structured and what does it offer to the visitor?
WOW’s mission is to reinforce Porto’s cultural and historical values as well as enhance the region’s opportunities in major industries such as wine, industry, and heritage, including increasing tourists’ foot traffic in a sustainable way.

The museum also houses a wine school. How is it organized and what services does it offer?
The WOW Wine School holds regular workshops and tastings designed for those curious about wine, wine connoisseurs and professionals. Created to offer informative and practical session, the Wine School is the ideal place to learn everything about wine. At the Wine School, attendees with not only learn all about Portuguese wine, but also about wine in general, in an international context.
All Wine School workshops and courses offer personal attention, small class sizes, and great learning experiences. Private workshops ideal for teambuilding exercises or special occasions can also be arranged.
The Wine School also offers exclusive and personalized tasting experiences with exceptional wines in a private setting. Such tastings can be tailored to individual interests. The Wine School also offers commented tastings on a when available basis.
