GIANFRANCO PALTRINIERI – EMILIA ROMAGNA – ITALY
“It was 1926 when Achille Paltrinieri, my grandfather, an esteemed chemist and pharmacist, began producing the first bottles of Lambrusco di Sorbara.
Cantina Paltrinieri is a family-run winery that transforms and vinifies its 17-hectare grapes into Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC in the most suitable area for the production of this vine, ‘il Cristo’ di Sorbara, a very fertile strip of land in the low Modena, squeezed between the rivers Secchia and Panaro.
Since the 1960s, the company has been run and expanded by my parents, Gianfranco and Pierina and, since 1996, I have run it together with my wife Barbara.
In 1998, we were the first to bet on pure Sorbara, to the point of communicating it on a label.
The thing I love most is the opportunity to communicate and show the beauty of my work, whether it is as a welcome in the cellar or going around the world to tell the whole life behind it through a glass of wine. The real legacy we would like to leave to our children is the passion and gratitude for what is given to us every day”.
