TENUTA FANTI – TUSCANY – ITALY
In the heart of Tuscany, south of Montalcino, since the early nineteenth century, the Fanti family has carried on its agricultural tradition, today continued with tenacious passion by Filippo and Elisa Fanti.
Tenuta Fanti covers about 300 hectares of property, of which 50 are specialized vineyards, 100 are olive groves with over 8,500 olive trees, 100 are arable land and 50 are woodlands.
The land is all located along the hills that descend from Montalcino towards Castelnuovo dell’Abate, at an altitude between 150 and 430 m a.s.l. The soils are rich in skeleton, originating from the disintegration of the “galestro” and alberese rocks, and poor in organic substance.
Sangiovese is the basis of all the wines of Tenuta Fanti and, in fact, occupies about 80% of the vineyard area (40 hectares).
The varietal panorama, over the years, has been enriched with other Tuscan vines (Trebbiano, Malvasia, San Colombano, Vermentino and Aleatico) and with international varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Viogner).
In 2005, the construction of the new cellar was completed, located in the company center and partially underground to reduce the visual impact. Within it, new technologies for the selection and for the vinification have been studied, in order to respect the primary characteristics of the grapes, which are enhanced with a careful choice of woods for maturation and with a right period of refinement in the bottle.
