Vintage 2019: The 2019 vintage is what we winemakers will always remember as the “great vintage”, it seems that the “nine” rule will be respected, that is, all vintages ending in nine have been exceptional. Our harvest in Bodegas Hnos. Pérez Pascuas in the D.O. The Ribera del Duero passed quietly, thanks also to the time that allowed it. The vine cycle this year was characterized by a very cold and dry winter which delayed the outbreak of the vine, followed by a hot and very dry summer but with sudden changes in temperature regime between day and night, which together with the rains of late summer helped to balance the ripening of the grapes. After a year of hard work in the field, the vineyard has given us a poor year in production but of great quality. The wines obtained are distinguished by their complexity and structure, due to a large concentration of polyphenols, now we have to tame them after a passage in barrels and a long rest in the bottle so that they become wines that represent the essence of Ribera del Duero.
Tasting Notes
In the glass the sample is limpid, with an intense ruby red mantle with slight purplish textures, consistent.
The range of scents is complex: floral, fruity, spicy and herbaceous. Aromas of moderately withered red flowers, followed by notes of red and dark berries, an evident note of dehydrated plum completes the range of fruity scents. Hints of sweet spices, such as cinnamon and vanilla, complete the olfactory examination with a nuance of undergrowth and aromatic herbs.
Rich sip, with an important tannin, still not perfectly balanced, on the whole, however, of good quality. Well balanced in its components, it will express its potential with a few more years of bottle aging.
Tried with a grilled beef tagliata.
