Note: Via Romana offers the essence of the land where it grows which makes it one of the most prestigious reds in Galicia. Manual harvest, followed by de-stemming and unloading by gravity into the fermentation tanks. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 24-26ºC, at the end of which the malolactic fermentation takes place.
As a result of our commitment to innovation, since 2015 the company has been producing this wine with a vegetable clarifier: pea protein. That’s why we managed to certify Vía Romana Mencía Añada as a vegan wine: the first in Galicia.
Tasting Notes
Limpid, intense ruby red color with purple textures, quite consistent.
On the olfactory examination the sample is quite complex in the variety of its scents: floral, fruity and balsamic. Notes of freshly cut red flowers, followed by hints of dark berry fruits such as black currant and blueberry, which intertwine with hints of wild strawberries, the closure is balsamic with a delicate nuance of eucalyptus.
In the mouth the taste is balanced, supported by moderate tannins. Good persistence on the nose, where a marked sensation of ripe fruit remains on the palate, reminiscent of cherry durone.
Tasted in combination with a plate of cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.
